Tick Tick Tick – die Falle

The large room is carpeted with ribbed carpet. However, one surface rises steeply upwards from the carpeted area. The open floor flap, held in place by two supports, provides a view of the interior. The folded picture surface shows various signs that collage together to create a meta-text.

An intricate tangle is scrutinised, while only the inquiring eye sees itself in the lens surface. If one begins to decode the iconography, one realises after a short contemplation the overt and covert references to a warlike laboratory. The shapes cut out of the carpet play with their relationship. A vortex depicted in a queer cut looks like the organic counterpart of the crosshairs shown here. The pictogram of an open fire meets directly with the highly abstracted sign cluster of an ammunition depot. The flying cartridges and vortices glide in or out of the pictorial space through the doors that are about to open or close.

A well camouflaged trap of the supposedly legible sign material ?

Once the open floor flap is closed again, only a slight elevation remains on the flat carpet surface, nothing is legible except for the visible camouflage….
